The personal injury attorneys of our Tennessee law firm have put together the following of what to do if you are attacked by an animal.

10 Things to do if an Animal Attack occurs

1.       If you or a loved one has recently been injured by an animal and has not sought medical attention, you should do so immediately.

2.       Immediately report your accident to the police and request a copy of the Police Accident Report.

3.       Try to obtain the name, address, and contact information of the animal owner.

4.       Try to get the name and contact information of any people who witnessed the attack.

5.       Take photographs of the animal that caused your injuries in the location of the accident, if possible.

6.       Take photographs of any visible injuries you have suffered as a result of the attack.

7.       Do not have any communication with the owner of the dog or the owner's insurance company. If you consent to a recorded statement or accept any form of compensation, you may waive your right to claim damages.

8.       Try to save any clothing that may have been damaged by the animal.

9.       Take photographs of any property damage caused by the animal.
